HOW TO APPLY


We appreciate the time and effort producers put into funding applications for their projects. Below we want to outline some key aspects we will be looking for in your application.
Applications for the Autumn 2025 Bursary are now open!
We encourage you to apply for a bursary award if you are:
- Juggling full time work with independent projects on the side
- Have elements of a production under your belt but need guidance in bringing it to fruition
- Looking to upscale your work from the fringe to mid-scale venues
- Have a long term aspiration to become a full time independent commercial theatre producer
How to apply

Applications for the Autumn 2025 Bursary are now open and will close on Monday 18th August at 12 noon.
To apply, you will need to complete an application form and upload a pdf version of your CV. You can find the application via our Members Area, which is free to join.
The Bursary is a grant awarded to independent theatre producers who have proven they are on a
clear trajectory of development within the commercial industry.
When applying to the Bursary, we want you to tell us:
- Who you are and what your producing career looks like now,
- What your commercial producing aspirations are, including the commercial viability of your
project/s
- At this point in your career, how you will use the money we grant you to help you achieve those
aspirations.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be over 18 years of age. There is no upper age limit to apply to any of Stage
One’s programmes.
- Applicants must be UK-based and intend for the work to be produced in the UK.
- Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
