Meet the 2025 New York Exchange Producers

Stage One are delighted to introduce you to our 2025 New York Exchange Producers!
Stage One has announced the 12 UK producers selection for the New York Exchange Programme for 2025. In partnership with Columbia University, the exchange will take the producers, all previous alumni of a Stage One programme, to New York from 15th – 19th September for a series of industry focused workshops to learn everything about how to producer on and off Broadway. Marking the 5th annual exchange between Stage One and Columbia University’s MFA Producing course, the programme has now become one of Stage One’s core development programmes offering industry focused training and investment.

Bethany Cooper
Bethany Cooper is an accomplished theatre producer and general manager, supported by The Stage One Bursary Scheme for New Producers. Her production company, Bethany Cooper Productions, made its debut with Tapped, a play by emerging writer Katie Redford, which earned an Offie Nomination for Most Promising Playwright. Additionally, Bethany is a recipient of the MGCfutures Bursary and was honoured with the 2022 Nicole Kidman Bursary, designed to support emerging female producers in the theatre industry. General Manager: Farewell Mister Haffmann (Park Theatre) Assistant General Manager: Fly More Than You Fall (Southwark Playhouse) Bethany is also the Production Coordinator for Dan Colman Creative and worked on the Olivier Award winning show Brainiac Live at Marylebone Theatre.
Conor Gray
Conor is a producer and general manager, who has just taken on the role of Producer at Watermill Theatre. Previously, he was Associate General Manager at The Old Vic, where his in-house producing credits include Jitney, A Christmas Carol (2022, 2023 and 2024), Groundhog Day (Olivier Award Nominee – Best Musical Revival), Machinal (Olivier Award Nominee – Best Play Revival), The Real Thing, and most recently the world premiere of Conor McPherson’s The Brightening Air.
He has previously worked as Production Coordinator for Matilda the Musical in the West End, as Assistant Producer for the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, London and on tour, and at Shakespeare’s Globe. Conor is an alumnus of the Stage One New Producers’ Scheme and has independently produced for The UnDisposables.
David Shopland
WhatsOnStage and multi Offie Award nominated producer David Shopland has been working in the industry for nearly 15 years; having founded two successful theatre companies that have taken him across the breadth of the UK, as well as New York, Vancouver, Sarajevo, Paris, Belfast, Beijing and many more places around the world. Shopland has produced productions in a variety of theatres in London, including Trafalgar Theatre (West End), Southwark Playhouse, Old Red Lion Theatre, The Leicester Square Theatre and Riverside Studios.
Demid Naumov
Demid is a producer and general manager specialising in commercial productions in the West End and internationally. He is currently Associate Producer (International) for SIX the Musical, supporting the show’s continued global success. Prior to joining SIX, Demid worked for National Theatre Productions, Neil Laidlaw Productions and Stage Entertainment. He completed the Stage One workshop in 2018.
Gareth Andrews
Gareth is founder of London-based production company, StoryWorks Live. He is currently co-producing the UK premiere of Disney’s Freaky Friday the Musical, opening later this year. Recent co-production credits include I Wish You Well: The Gwyneth Paltrow Ski-Trial Musical (Edinburgh Fringe & Criterion Theatre, West End), and Associate Producer on Heathers the Musical, Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical, Calendar Girls the Musical, and Blood Brothers for Bill Kenwright Ltd.
In 2023, Gareth was awarded the Stage One Bursary and is currently developing a slate of new productions, including both original work and stage adaptations of globally distributed films, and television IPs. He looks forward to joining the Broadway Exchange to deepen his understanding of producing for American audiences and to foster meaningful international partnerships. www.StoryWorks.Live
James Steel
James is a UK-based theatre producer, executive producer, and general manager specialising in new musical theatre. Through his company, James Steel Productions, he supports international collaborators across the West End, Broadway, and beyond. He recently executive produced and general managed Fly More Than You Fall, featuring Keala Settle, and his wider work spans ticketing, marketing strategy, and creative consulting. He is passionate about financial rigour, inclusivity, and bold, contemporary storytelling.
Jamie Rycroft
Jamie is an independent producer based in London. His current productions include Michael Rosen’s touring show Getting Through It, Roger McGough’s family-friendly musical The Sound Collector (UK/Ireland), the monthly Play Lottery contest where the winning playwright is picked at random, and the one-man play Life With Oscar (Touring UK/USA). He has formerly worked in venue management positions at Cambridge’s ADC Theatre and London’s OSO Arts Centre.
Jazz Lintott-Bruce
Producer | Storyteller | Creative Force
Jazz began his career both behind and in front of the camera, quickly carving out a space for himself as a dynamic creative in the world of film and television. After founding a production company that produced standout music videos and commercials, he moved into feature films, working as a Line Producer across several projects.
But theatre has always been his first love. In 2023, Jazz produced his debut stage play, Going for Gold: The Frankie Lucas Story—an original work that resonated powerfully with audiences. The production earned four major awards, including three at the Black British Theatre Awards and one at the Brighton Fringe Festival. Its success led to a near sold-out run at London’s iconic Park Theatre, followed by a celebrated week-long engagement in Barbados.
Now setting his sights internationally, Jazz is preparing to bring Going for Gold to New York in 2026, with plans also underway for a Toronto run.
Building on this momentum, acclaimed author Ray Shell has entrusted Jazz with producing the stage adaptation of ICED, his best-selling novel—a testament to Jazz’s growing reputation as a fearless, visionary producer with a passion for telling bold, culturally resonant stories.
Kate Baiden
Kate is an experienced producer with a wide variety of producing experience across many forms of live performance, from major revivals of classic plays, new musicals, debut new writing, theatrical adaptations, large-scale outdoor productions, national and international touring, community productions and artist development projects. Kate currently employed as Producer at London’s Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, producing shows across the 550-seat Main House Theatre, the 120-seat Studio Theatre and on tour. Prior to this Kate was Producer for Graeae Theatre Company, the UK’s leading disabled-led theatre company, overseeing Graeae’s many and varied productions and live events nationally and internationally. Kate has also held roles at New Diorama Theatre, artsdepot and at the Department of Education, as well as working as a freelance development producer. Kate has recently been part of the London Theatre Consortium’s leadership development programme (2024), took part in Change Creation’s Leadership Cohort (2017-19), and has completed the Stage One West End Workshop (2015). She has a BSL Level 1 qualification.
Simon Paris
Simon Paris is a theatre producer and maker who works with audiences by offering them something new. His work is bold, irreverent, and unapologetically sceptical of authority, designed to captivate audiences who are young, curious, and up for a challenge.
He creates original work and collaborates with some of the UK’s most daring theatre companies. Whether developing new writing, devising with ensembles, or tearing up and rebuilding the classics, Simon is driven by a mission to disrupt the traditional performer-audience relationship. His work often takes shape in interactive, immersive, or entirely reimagined theatrical forms.
Simon is the Founder and Artistic Director of Say It Again, Sorry?, and the producer of the hit interactive show …Earnest?, currently touring the UK. He also works as Associate Producer at Metal Rabbit Productions, where his credits include The Prince and a range of bold new work.
Sophie Visscher
Sophie (She/They) is a producer and general manager working between London and New York, specializing in interdisciplinary queer storytelling across theatre, dance, and comedy. Currently, she serves as Associate General Manager at Melting Pot Productions (The Girl on the Train, Inspector Morse). Sophie is the co-founder of Speakerphone Productions, where she develops and produces new work.
She previously worked as Production Coordinator for National Theatre Productions (Standing at the Sky’s Edge, The Lehman Trilogy) and as the Production Assistant at Runaway Entertainment (2:22 A Ghost Story, Newsies). With a BA in Dance and Education from Barnard College, Columbia University, Sophie’s career began in New York, where she worked as the Company Manager at Second Stage Theater, as the Assistant Company Manager on Jersey Boys (New World Stages), and on the Ticketing and Operations Team of the 74th Tony Awards.
Winnie Imara
Winnie Imara is a Producer, She is currently Co-Producer on West End transfer of Retrograde, previously she was Associate Producer on Shifters (West End), She worked as an Assistant Producer for Talawa on Talawa First, showcasing new work by New Black Writers also worked as Assistant Producer for Ameena Hamid and has worked on various projects as Lead Producer in Theatre and Film.
