Q: How Do I Reach Out To Other Creatives And Producers?

Image

A: At Stage One we often get asked “as a writer, director or actor with projects in development how can I reach out and pitch to producers”? It’s so important for us all to collaborate when we start working in theatre, the sharing of ideas and finding the people we work best with benefits all. So let’s break it down! If you want to get your work out there and start meeting people check out these places:

  • First and foremost, Stage One! We run a three day workshop where you can learn how to put on a West End show. Applications are open till 5pm on Monday 20th March, visit our website to find out further details and how to apply.
  • UK Theatre Facebook group – this is an excellent forum run by Jake Orr, producers helping producers with loads of different questions at many different levels.
  • Chris Grady’s Producers’ Pool – happens every month at the Arts Theatre, see the above advert to book yourself in.
  • Old Vic New Voices – nurtures all types of creative’s at all different levels. They have some pretty admirable programs running and even overlap with some of our alumni like Martha Rose Wilson, who was selected as one of the Old Vic 12.
  • The Bunker Theatre – Run by Stage One Alumni Joel Fisher, they are really keen to hear from producers and companies that need a space to perform. See their “perform with us” section on their website.
  • The Park Theatre – After quoted “we want to support producers” in The Stage it’s a great time to take a look at their Script Accelerator. Many Alumni have used the Park in the past, most recently Bursary Award winner Michael James-Cox for Raising Martha.

This is only the start of many ways of collaboration; do keep tuned into our social media where we will keep you updated with any new initiatives you should be applying for!
